How to Evaluate Good Manicure Tables

Manicure tables come in a wide range of styles and prices. The average cost is between $300 and $1000 and prices can go much higher. It is more commonly around the high end that you will find a table which is both designed to be functional and at the same time reasonably attractive.
Manicure tables now may include ventilation systems. This is due to the fact that manicure chemicals, such as removers and polishes are high in noxious smelling fumes. With the new artificial nail techniques, many more highly fume laden chemicals are also commonly found in nail salons.
However, some manicure tables still look as simple as a small desk with some drawers, or even just a glass table. I imagine that the manicurist would keep her supplies in a portable rack that can be moved around the shop from table to table, if the the plain table manicurist station is utilized. I remember the days when the manicurist would just come and do your nails with a rolling cart, while you sat under the hair dryer.
Tables with cushioned arm rests are more comfortable for the client, and seating both the manicurist and client in an ergonomically correct position is advisable. The movements in the manicure process are quite restricted and narrowly focused. This in itself would create stress on the body and can lead to repetitive motion injuries.
There is a great deal of arm, neck and back pain associated with this occupation. The manicurist must constantly lean forward and use very controlled movements. A good, comfortable chair and table, with appropriate positioning and scale would be crucial.
Most functional tables look like a conventional table with drawers; however there is a movable layer above the table surface, which can be slanted either toward the direction of the client or the manicurist. This seems the best way to be able to adjust to accommodate people of different heights and sizes and provide the most comfort possible.
The drawers in well made, high-end manicure tables, have multiple trays in each drawer, to hold the bottles, jars, cups, bowls, cutting and filing implements, brushes, cotton, tissues and towels. Ideally the one with the polishes would lift out so that the bottles could be displayed for the client to choose their preferred color.
