For those of us who do our own nails and have not kept up with manicure prices over the last 20 years, it can be very shocking. In fact, I don't even remember ever having 'nail salons', but having manicures as an inexpensive service offered at the hair salon. For a while in the '80's, it seemed like there was a nail salon on every block.

You could say manicure prices have kept pace with inflation. Even though we no longer seem to be obsessed with extravagance and luxury, women still tolerate manicure prices that are very high. Most women who have their nails done professionally, do this quite frequently. It is a great deal more bother and expense to keep your nails well-groomed, than if you do it yourself.

Some nail salons offer 'volume discount' manicure prices, for example, $96 for 6 manicures, which must be done in 6 months. This is only $16, which seems reasonable. A regular priced manicure is around $18 for one, and French Tip about $23.

I find the majority of women that frequent nail salons usually have artificial nails. There are a number of options for artificial nails tips, such as acrylic tips, which are around $40 for a set, and $27 for a refill; silk wrap, which runs about $50; or sculptured, which is $55. Acrylic and silk manicures also include coating, that can run around $40.

Manicure prices now include another service that is now performed more frequently, paraffin manicures and pedicures. This would probably feel wonderfully soothing and relaxing, and supposedly keeps the hands and feet looking youthful and feeling soft.

Regular pedicures are an average of $50, for men or women. To have your toe nail polish changed is a mere $17. It is also comforting to know that after agreeing that you need to pay manicure prices that are so high, that you can have a variety of repairs done on your manicure, which range between $3 and $5. Now this is a good investment, since it could let you keep your manicure in good shape for an extra week or so.
